Vitamin D supplementation for people with diabetes to help reduce heart disease


According to a study by scientists in the Department of Nutrition and Food Technology - National Research Institute - School of Medicine University of Tehran - Iran published in the journal BMC Medicine, patients with diabetes eat a milk yogurt contains more Vitamin D reduces the risk of cardiovascular related diseases.
Sakineh Shab-Bidar and his colleagues found that vitamin D supplementation yogurt will improve cholesterol levels and biological indicators of cardiovascular disease in patients with diabetes .

In an experiment excluded, the researchers discovered Vitamin D on the impact on blood sugar, cholesterol and endogenous biological index of diabetics. The study subjects were divided into 2 groups, one eating normal yogurt while the other group ate yogurt with vitamin D twice a day for 12 weeks.

The result is 95% of patients using vitamin D supplements yogurt has significantly improved cholesterol levels. Specifically, the total amount of low-density lipoprotein - the bad cholesterol - decreased while the total amount of high density lipoprotein - good cholesterol - increased. Improve cholesterol levels are reduced insulin levels.
